Save Power and Save Earth

Pollution has been increased drastically and has negative effects on human health. The entire human life on earth is on danger. The below cartoon in eenadu news paper depicts the same

One of the key reasons of increased pollution is thermal power plants where coal is burnt for generating electricity.

It is observed that the overall efficiency of the power system is 17% when measured w.r.t coal input. Therefore If I save one unit of electrical energy, then indirectly I save 6 to 7 units of coal and thus reduce Pollution. So finally I say "SAVE POWER & SAVE EARTH"

Nonlinear Model Predictive Control & MATLAB code

Model Predictive Control (MPC) is one of the recent control technique developed by control engineers and is gaining popularity in the last decade. The applications of  MPC are not just limited to Process industries, Aerospace, Power system, Drives, Renewable Energy systems etc.
For Understanding this control one can refer [1] and the corresponding MATLAB code are available at the below link:
http://extras.springer.com/2007/978-0-85729-398-5

The nonlinear version of MPC is called Nonlinear Predictive control
For understanding Nonlinear Predictive Control refer [2] and the MATLAB codes are available at the below link

68-bus benchmark Power System Model MATLAB/Simulink files

This is one of the most popular benchmark model with 16 machines, 68-bus, and 5-areas. This model represents interconnected New England test system  and New York power system. The detailed report of the this benchmark model is given in [1]. This benchmark model is very useful for researchers who are working in the area of control and state estimation of power systems. Thanks to Prof. Bikash C. Pal and his team.
